Adhesive-free sun protection films - Practical and effective for pleasant room temperatures.
Our adhesive-free sun protection films for indoor installation offer a clever solution to regulate the indoor climate while maintaining your privacy. Due to their special static cling or adhesion strength, they stay securely attached to the windows without any adhesive.
These films are easy to apply and leave no residue when removed. They are perfect for rental flats, offices or other places where applying adhesive is undesirable. It is important not to apply them to triple glazed windows. With these windows there is a residual risk of glass breakage.
Solar control films provide effective reduction of heat and UV radiation, resulting in more comfortable room temperatures and preventing fading of furniture and carpets. They also provide enhanced privacy by limiting the intrusion of prying eyes from outside. You can enjoy daylight while unwanted glare is minimised.
Our adhesive-free solar control films are available in a range of options, from transparent films to lightly tinted or mirrored options. You can order the films from us in the exact size and shape you want.
Discover the advantages of adhesive-free sun protection films and create a pleasant atmosphere in your rooms. Enjoy protection from heat and UV radiation as well as increased privacy without having to worry about annoying adhesive residue.
Questions and answers
Inside or outside: Which mounting side is the right one?
Due to the fact that adhesive sun protection films are adhesive-free, they can only be applied to the weather-protected inside of a window. When installed outside, rainwater could penetrate under the film at the edge over time and peel it off piece by piece. Likewise, a storm could tear the film loose at one corner and blow it away. In addition, the mirrored side would face inwards and the effect of the film would be greatly reduced.
What are the advantages of self-adhesive sun protection film?
The biggest advantage is that the film does not require any additional film adhesive. This is not because the installation is easier than with an ordinary adhesive film: here, both types are actually very similar. The advantage comes in the event of dismantling, where the self-adhesive sun protection film can simply be removed again and no residue can remain on the glass!
Are there any disadvantages with adhesive-free thermal protection films?
There are two disadvantages compared to self-adhesive sun protection films:
- Firstly, it is very important to ensure that no scratches are made in the film during installation! It is best to always pad the squeegee well and use plenty of liquid when squeegeeing. The pressure of the squeegee must also be chosen carefully to avoid scratches.
- The second disadvantage lies in the material. In order for the adhesive properties to take effect, the window film must be made of a composite of PET and soft PVC and have a certain material thickness. This ensures that the view through is not crystal clear (approx. 10% blurred) as is the case with self-adhesive sun protection films, which are made of a hard and thin polyester film.
How do I apply an adhesive-free sun protection film?
The installation is carried out in the same way as for a self-adhesive sun protection film using the wet adhesive method. Both the pane and the adhesive back of the film are sprayed with a mixture of water and transfer concentrate. Then the heat protection film is placed on the pane and the liquid is spread out under the film towards the side edges.
How do I care for my sun protection film?
Recommended:
- The sun protection film must not be cleaned during the first three weeks after application.
- Commercially available glass cleaning agents can be used.
- Clean the windows with soft cloths or a chamois leather.
- Make sure that rubber wipers and all other cleaning utensils are clean.
- Please clean film edges carefully.
- Therefore, clean an externally installed film at short intervals so that the hard dirt particles cannot settle too firmly on the film surface.
- In the case of externally laid films, coarse dust and dirt should be removed from the film with a very wet, soft chamois leather and sufficient clean water.
Cleaning:
- Spray the window surface with the water - cleaner mixture.
- Wipe off water with a rubber wiper from top to bottom.
- Soak heavily soiled areas again and clean with soft chamois leather or sponge and plenty of water.
- Spray the pane again with a water-cleaner mixture and wipe off with a squeegee from top to bottom.
Not recommended:
- Do not use abrasive cleaning agents
- Never clean the panes dry.
- Do not use glass scrapers, razor blades or Scotch.
- Do not clean with high-pressure cleaners or steam cleaners.
- In general, the application of advertising stickers to the film coating is not recommended.
- Always remember: The surface coating of the film is scratch-resistant, but not indestructible.
How long does static cling sun protection film last on the window?
The durability and adhesive strength are up to 10 years, depending on various factors. However, it depends on how often the films are re-fitted. The adhesive strength decreases somewhat over time due to renewed installation. To counteract this, it is best to wash the films with soapy water and degrease them before re-fitting. The window pane must also be free of dust or grease.
How do I remove a self-adhesive sun protection film from the glass?
To remove a self-adhesive sun protection film, it is gripped at one corner and then slowly pulled off at a wrong angle. No residue remains. Theoretically, the film can then be mounted again immediately.
