Never cover a pane only partially with a sun protection film, this is guaranteed to lead to glass breakage due to the glass tensions!
Interior installation
This type of installation is always possible with single glazing.
With multiple glazing it is somewhat more difficult, as there are various different types of glass:
- Insulating glazing (clear glazing)
- Thermal insulation glazing (clear coated glazing, with or without gas filling)
- Solar control glazing (tinted coated glazing, with or without gas filling)
These main groups can then be designed, among other things, as sound insulation glass or safety glass (VSG). A binding list is therefore impossible. However, based on technical data and extensive experience, we venture a recommendation for each film in question. You will find this list of recommendations under the"Product data" tab.
Outdoor installation
This type of installation is often possible outdoors, and you will also find the relevant information in our list of recommendations.
Outdoor installation is somewhat more effective than indoor installation, as the heat radiation is already intercepted outside the building parts.
What type of glass is installed in my home?
To determine whether you have simple insulating glazing or thermal or solar control glazing, you can carry out the following experiment:
- Hold a lighter from the inside in front of the pane. The flame is now reflected several times in the pane.
If one of these reflections is of a different colour than the rest of the reflections, it is thermal or solar control glazing.
Another possibility is to look in the space between the panes at the usually silver spacers of the panes.
- If you find an indication of the date of manufacture of the pane, e.g. 04/92 or similar, then you can classify the window on the basis of our recommendation list.
- If you find labels such as K-value 1.6, then you can also classify the window according to our list of recommendations. The K-value (old designation) corresponds to the current U-value.
- If you find labels such as K-Plus, ISO-Plus, ...Therm or similar designations, we will be happy to help you decipher the quality of your window. Send us an e-mail with the information you have found.
