To help you make the right decision, here are a few tips.

Indoor installation

The advantage of internal installation is that the film is protected from the weather, which increases its durability. Depending on various factors, the durability is between 15 and 18 years.

Internal installation should only be carried out on single or double glazing installed before 1995, as otherwise high thermal stresses can occur in the glass in summer on all other glazing. Furthermore, we recommend that you do not carry out internal installation on horizontally installed glass panes (e.g. skylights), as this should only be done from the outside!

Outdoor installation

External installation offers the advantage of higher efficiency (approx. 4%) compared to internal installation. These films are somewhat thicker due to an additional protective layer, which is intended to protect against the weather. Exterior mounting can also be chosen for modern windows. On each article page we give a precise mounting recommendation for the different glass types under the tab "Product data".

Annual films - durability

For some films, there are two variants for exterior installation: For the 5-year film, a durability of 5 years and for the 8-year film, a durability of 8 years is considered realistic. The 8-year film is a new development of the previously available 5-year film. It is a premium product and designed for an extra long life.

We recommend that you additionally seal the edges of horizontal installations (e.g. skylights or conservatories) so that no standing water can collect at the edge of the film. The sealed film edge ensures a long durability of the film.
